We have a job for a dedicated and talented speech pathologist. We have a dynamic team of allied health professionals with a passion for providing excellent services to people with disabilities. We’re looking for a speech pathologist to provide a high level of services and support to adults with developmental and/or acquired disabilities. 

Reporting to the Acting Senior Speech Pathologist, some of your duties will include:

  • Comprehensive communication and dysphagia assessment of people with disability.
  • Planning, implementation, and evaluation of intervention for participants in order to maximise independence and quality of life in the areas of swallowing, verbal communication, augmentative and alternative communication, social skills and literacy
  •  Working with families, carers, and other stakeholders to support participants to achieve agreed outcomes in accordance with their plan.
  • Documentation of and reporting on intervention strategies.
  • Contributing to initiatives related to areas such as clinical service delivery and continuous improvement.
  • Prescribe and implement appropriate assistive technology in accordance with National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).
  • Delivering induction training to support workers in relation to IDDSI and mealtime management.
  • Acting as a consultant through the provision of expert advice and information to residents, service users, families and staff as appropriate.

Essential Selection Criteria:

  • Tertiary qualification in Speech Pathology and a current practising membership of Speech Pathology Australia.
  • Sound knowledge of contemporary approaches to assessment and intervention for mealtime management and communication issues for individuals with developmental and/or acquired disabilities.
  • Demonstrated well developed communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills to develop good working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders including clients, families and carers.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage own workload, including the ability to problem solve, prioritise, handle multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Awareness and understanding of the National Disability Service Standards, and an in depth understanding of the needs and requirements of people with varied disabilities and diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to travel to residential homes within the metropolitan area.
  • A full Australian driver’s licence, a Working With Children Check, a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check only provided by Cited and a First Aid certificate (including CPR) with at least 6 months validity.


  • Experience in delivering training programs to a range of audiences including non-clinical staff.
  • Experience in the prescription and implementation of low tech and high tech alternative and augmentative communication systems.
  • Experience working with people with complex communication needs.
