About the organization
The Children’s Advocacy Center provides a coordinated, child-friendly response to child abuse, bringing together law enforcement, child protective services, prosecution, medical and mental-health providers, and victim advocacy so that children and families receive support and justice while minimizing additional trauma.
Position summary
The Executive Director leads the organization’s mission, people, partnerships, and finances. The ED sets strategic direction in partnership with the board, facilitates the multidisciplinary team, stewards funding and operations, and cultivates a trauma-informed culture that supports staff and serves every child and family with dignity.
Key responsibilities
Lead and facilitate collaboration among multidisciplinary team partners and community stakeholders.
Set and execute strategic direction in partnership with the board of directors.
Steward the organization’s finances, including budgeting, audit support, and grant and fiscal compliance.
Diversify and grow revenue through grant writing, fundraising, and new program development.
Lead, support, and develop staff, and foster a trauma-informed, supportive workplace culture.
Represent the CAC and advocate for children and families with local, state, and national partners.
Requirements
Qualifications Required
Unquestionable integrity, sound judgment, and the ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
Genuine commitment to the mission of serving child victims of abuse and their families.
Knowledge of the child-welfare system, child-abuse dynamics and prevention, and family systems.
Proven nonprofit or human-services leadership experience, including partnering with a board of directors.
A track record of leading collaboration among diverse partners and stakeholders.
Strategic planning and strong interpersonal and communication skills, including difficult conversations and accountability.
Financial stewardship at a comparable scale (budgeting, audit support, grant and fiscal compliance), plus grant-writing and fundraising to diversify revenue.
Trauma-informed leadership that supports staff wellbeing.
Degree requirement: bachelor's degree in a related field; master’s degree preferred.
Qualifications Preferred
Familiarity with the Children's Advocacy Center model and the multidisciplinary team (MDT) approach.
Familiarity with National Children's Alliance accreditation and the state chapter network.
Local familiarity with Erie County agencies and the surrounding region.
