Description

Deputy Director of Advancement (Philanthropy)

In the region of £70,000 per annum, depending upon skills and experience

Sevenoaks, Kent, UK

Founded in 1432, Sevenoaks School enjoys a global reputation as a centre of academic excellence and a flagship school for the International Baccalaureate. A co-educational day and boarding school, it offers a stimulating, intellectually demanding and balanced education for over 1,100 students aged 11 to 18. It is the top co-educational independent school in the UK in The Sunday Times Parent Power 2023 Survey, Spear’s School of the Year 2022 and AGBIS School of the Year 2023.

The Sevenoaks School Foundation is now seeking a Deputy Director of Advancement (Philanthropy) to lead the fundraising for an ambitious, multi-dimensional and transformative campaign ahead of the school’s 600th anniversary in 2032. The campaign, led by the Headmaster, reflects the school’s ‘restless quest to improve and evolve’ and will focus on providing more transformational bursaries, advancing the school campus plan and enabling Sevenoaks to become carbon-neutral within a decade.

This is an exciting and unique opportunity to build on the strong foundations in place, play a pivotal role in delivering the school’s vision and drive the rapid expansion of the Foundation’s fundraising capabilities.

Bringing contemporary best practice to a growing team, the successful candidate will lead the management and development of the philanthropy team in support of the vision and strategic aims of Sevenoaks School. They will manage their own portfolio of major gifts prospects, build the legacies and regular giving programmes and also support the recently appointed Director of Advancement in the day-to-day oversight and management of the wider Foundation Team.

This is a newly created post and a unique opportunity for an outstanding advancement professional. The successful candidate will be an inspiring individual with a strong track record in six-figure+ major gifts fundraising and the experience to build and lead a high-achieving team that will support all aspects of fundraising. Experience of working in a UK school environment is not essential, but candidates will be supportive of independent education in general and the Sevenoaks ethos in particular.

Interested candidates are invited to contact RSAcademics to arrange an informal and confidential discussion about the post:

Further information about the role and details of how to apply can be found at www.rsacademics.com

Closing date: 10.00am on Tuesday 17th October 2023.

Sevenoaks School Foundation is an equal opportunities employer and is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the amendments to the Exceptions Order 1975, 2013 and 2020.

The safeguarding responsibilities of the role are indicated in the candidate information brochure.

RSAcademics is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and to promoting diversity and inclusion in schools.
