The Zoo is recruiting for two Part-Time Temporary Guest Surveyors
Part-time Hours:
Must be available to work five days a week for 4 hours each day (from 12:30 to 5:30 p.m.), including weekends as well as three weekdays through October. Will work weekends and holidays.
Hourly Rate of Pay: $15.00

Primary Purpose:
The primary role of this position is to execute survey questionnaires to Zoo guests as they exit the park.
Guest surveyors can expect the following responsibilities:
- Responsible for approaching and engaging with guests
- Responsible for following predetermined procedures for how to conduct a survey
- Responsible for using a tablet and software program "Survey Monkey" when collecting responses to the survey
- Responsible for maintaining working knowledge of all relevant policies and procedures
Job Requirements:
- Must have disposition that enables engagement with guests (friendly and confident)
- Must be able to follow protocols and procedures
- Strong communication and decision-making skills
- Must be able to work alone in an effective and responsible manner
- Must possess ability to work outside in a variety of weather conditions
- Must be able to remain stationary (standing/sitting) for long periods of time as well as move independently through the Zoo.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

Division Information: The North Carolina Zoo exists for the enjoyment, education, and inspiration of all of North Carolina's citizens and visitors to the zoo. The mission of the zoo is to encourage the understanding of and commitment to the conservation of the world's wildlife and wild places through the recognition of the interdependence of people and nature. The Zoo displays, conserves and protects representative examples of natural beauty, plant and animal species and ecological features of the North American and African regions of the world through the presentation of live animal exhibits from these regions.
The Conservation, Education and Science Section is a new department of the zoo created as part of a realignment of institutional priorities. This Section combines the previously existing Education Section with the Conservation and Research program previously part of the Animal Division. The Conservation, Education and Science (CES) Section is responsible for executing activities and programs central to the mission of the NC Zoo. The section plans, organizes and executes scientific research and wildlife conservation programs within North Carolina and internationally. CES is responsible for all educational activities and programs conducted by the NC Zoo in furtherance of the zoo's mission and DNCR goals. Educational programming coordinated by CES is wide ranging and includes (but is not limited to) developing interpretive displays at zoo exhibits, organized programs for visiting school groups, educational camps, teacher training workshops, college research internships, activities promoting outdoor activities, developing educational content for zoo social media, community outreach programs and off-site educational programs.
The Zoo's Conservation/Education/Science (CES) maintains its own ambassador animals and is responsible for overall care and management of this collection. This includes, collection planning, animal acquisitions and dispositions, animal care (insuring physical and behavioral animal well-being), animal propagation, animal training and animal behavioral enrichment programs. CES staff facilitates, conducts and develops all on-site research, with a particular focus on animal welfare and behavioral monitoring as well as education evaluation.
