Volunteer position - To provide physiotherapy sessions (½ to 1 hr) to Asylum Seekers Centre (ASC) clients
Purpose / Objective: The Asylum Seekers Centre’s (ASC) Health Program provides free access to healthcare support, particularly for people without Medicare eligibility. The aim of the program is to reduce the burden faced by people seeking asylum to access essential medical care, as well as connecting and referring people to specialist services in the general community and clinics are managed by ASC’s team of registered nurses. Commitment Period: Minimum 3 months Days and hours required: At least once a month, weekdays. Location: Asylum Seekers Centre, Newtown
Duties & Responsibilities
To obtain a medical history and assess need of physiotherapy intervention;
To provide physiotherapy service to clients to improve their physical well being
To write clinical notes in the clients ‘Best Practice’ clinical file;
To work within the Health Team to promote wellness in our clients
Selection Criteria
AHPRA registration
Experience in working with people from various backgrounds and cultures
Intermediate computer skills (confidence in using the internet, Google suite and emails)
Ability to work collaboratively with other staff and volunteers
Flexibility and willingness to take on extra tasks as appropriate
Ability to adhere to policies concerning code of conduct, boundaries and confidentiality
Works well within a multidisciplinary team
Willing to learn to use TIS (translating International Services) as required
This role is subject to a successful interview
